Meet Katherine

 

Praised for her luminous vocal clarity, expressive phrasing, and captivating stage presence, Katherine Holobinko is quickly establishing herself as a compelling and versatile soprano to watch on today’s operatic stage. Always seeking beauty in the imperfection of human nature, her performances span a wide array of composers and styles, reflecting opera’s timeless and deeply human resonance.

This season, Katherine appears with Opera Carolina as Lauretta and Suor Genovieffa in Suor Angelica and Gianni Schicchi. Recent professional highlights include engagements with Florida Grand Opera as a Studio Artist, where she portrayed the Nurse in A Streetcar Named Desire, and with Central City Opera, where she made her professional debut as Young Miss Snow in Carousel.

A graduate of Indiana University Opera Theater, she performed roles including Meg (Little Women) and Annina (La Traviata). Additional credits include Prince (The Little Prince), Belinda (Dido and Aeneas), Nina (Chérubin), and Sister Genovieffa (Suor Angelica).

Katherine is a Region Encouragement Award recipient and three-time District Winner of the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition. She was also a finalist in the James Toland Vocal Competition and an Incentive Award winner in the SAS Performing Arts Competition.

Katherine holds a Masters degree in Voice from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, a Bachelors in Voice from the Peabody Conservatory of Music, and a Bachelors of Arts with Honors in French from the Johns Hopkins University.
